What will you learn?
First of all you will need to read some theory and complete a multiple choice exam to understand the basic principles of scuba diving.
Then you move on to the confined water dives. This includes 6 sessions of pool practice where you will get comfortable in the diving equipment and learn basic scuba skills. These skills include mask and snorkel clearing, techniques on how to use your fins properly, various buoyancy exercises and regulator recovery. All for you to get confident before entering the open ocean.
One of our qualified instructors will then guide you through 4 open water ocean dives, 2 from shore and 2 from the Blue Explorer's dive boat. Now it's time to explore! While using the skills you learned during the pool session you now need to experience everything the ocean has to offer. You will work on your buoyancy skills, using your fins and lungs as well as monitoring you own air consumption. You will learn about all the fish and sea creatures and get to visit them in their natural habitat.
Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a certification allowing you to dive up to 18m all over the world or 12m for 10-11 years.

Blue Explorers Land, Air or Sea activities
We have a wide range of water activities for beginners and children right through to experienced open and deep water dive programs, in both Tenerife and Gran Canaria. There are also other activities and excursions, such as land safaris and sailing trips. We welcome large groups as well as smaller parties, families and individuals, but we advise large groups to book ahead and contact us via email to confirm their booking.
Blue Explorers provide all dive equipment (unless specified) and our dive teams are not only fully qualified and multi-lingual, but are also skilled at identifying the Canarian plant and animal life to make your trip as informative as it is fun. There may be opportunities to have your photo taken underwater to take home as a souvenir or post to social media as soon as you’re back on dry land.
We suggest that our dive and non-divers either bring a picnic lunch or can enjoy a meal in one of the many seafront restaurants in Taurito Bay or Abades village square, where our dive centres are situated.
